Cycling tour Don Det &
Don Khone with Zipline at Lipphi Falls
09:30 hrs
Our tour takes off from Paradise view restaurant Don Det.We cycle cautiously on a dusty(or muddy in Monsoon)trail towards the very Southern end of Don Det, where we can listen to the roar of the Lipphi Falls and gaze at the fast and vicious water of the Mekong rushing by.
10:00 hrs
We turn back to carry on to get to the hard top road and cross the French bridge connecting Don Det and Don Khone.
Going North we pass through Don Khone village near the Mekong to reach the Northern end, then westwards and South following the road to reach after ca. 25 minutes the dust trail to Khone Pa Soy waterfall. The bridge to the waterfall is under maintenance momentarily and dangerous to use, so we only take pictures there and return to the main road.
10:40 hrs
Continue easy and slow cycling on good road for another 25-30 minutes southwards until the old French port of Hang Khone.
The colonialists used to ferry the goods from here further downstream, it was the end of the railway line bridging the impassable Lipphi and Khone Pha Peng waterfalls, and an old rusty locomotive is on display there as well as a memorial for the endangered species of the Irrawaddy dolphins, which are not present in Laotian waters anymore. We take about 70-80 minutes lunch break at the restaurant there (Food not included).
12:20 hrs
Get back on the bicycles and take it slow towards Khong Yai beach.
First 2 km on the hard top road, then turning left onto a bumpy, dusty trail road until we arrive after about 1 km at the sands of Khone Yai beach. The main beach is used as a port for local boat transport and fishermen. We walk on the right side following for around 100 meters a small footpath to a lovely little beach, where we take a half hour break for relaxing and swimming.

Refreshed we walk back to our bikes and ride within 15-20 minutes to Lipphi Falls water park.
We park the bikes near the gate and walk to the restaurant and have a closer look to the waterfall. Then we get safety instructions for the zipline, before we go for about two hours crisscrossing the thundering water of the Mekong. Once in a lifetime experience!

Back at the gate and our bikes, we now take on the last part of our tour by crossing the French bridge again to Don Det, turn sharp right onto the good road along the eastern side until we arrive at Green paradise office.
17:00 hrs : End of tour.

Safety briefing and basic paddling instructions.
09:45 – 11:00 hrs
Paddling along the east side of Don Det, you will pass between a few smaller islands to the North of Done Khone island. You will master some minor rapids before we stop at Done Khone village to take a stroll for about 25 minutes, finally pass over an old bridge to reach the beautiful Tad Etout.
11:00 – 11:40 hrs
You can enjoy this place perfect for swimming, jumping off the rocks and relaxing.
11:40 – 12:50 hrs
Walk another 30 minutes to reach our BBQ set-up and take your lunch while you have another 40 minutes to enjoy the food and the place.
12:50 – 13:50 hrs
Continue paddling downstream for another hour to reach Veun Kham village. Our bus will be waiting there to bring you to South-east Asia’s largest waterfall Khonephapeng. The meandering boardwalk will lead you close to the thundering cataract. Afterwards the bus will bring you to Nakasang, where the kayaks are ready for your last leg across to the starting point on Don Det.
16:30 hrs : Reach Paradise view resort again. End of tour

Start: 09:00 hrs
From Paradise view restaurant Don Det. Paddle about 45 minutes on the east side of Don Det towards the French bridge and then cross over and get out of the kayak near Wat Khon Tai. Walk about 15 minutes to Liphi waterfall park. After a brief safety instruction enjoy a 2 hour zip line action crossing the cataracts 6 times and walk over two long suspension bridges.
Then you walk another 15 minutes to Kong Yai beach for relaxing, swimming and getting back into the kayaks. Another 30-40 minutes of downstream paddling and you reach the final stop of this tour Hang Khone. From there our transportation will bring you back to the starting point on Don Det.

12:00 – 12.40 hrs : Return via good roads passing by rice fields, tree plantations and local houses to cross over to Don Det via the French bridge. On the way we pass another old French locomotive.
Drive along the sunrise side of Don Det on good roads to pass through Don Det village and then return on a good road passing through rice fields back to Don Khone to check out from Sengaloune resort.
13:00 hrs : Leave from Sengaloune resort to Nakasang and take your private minibus to Khone Pha Peng waterfall, where you can enjoy the beautiful park and stroll along the cataracts on a meandering boardwalk under massive trees donning shadow from the intense sun.
14:30 hrs : Leave for Bolaven Sabaidee Valley resort.
On the way there is the possibility to stop at Ban Blacksmith, as it was part of tour program originating from Pakse. As we cannot drive back next morning, now it would be the chance to check out those local metal workshops and maybe have a swing with the hammer at some red hot iron.
Arrival at Sabaidee valley resort ca. 17:30 – 18:00 hrs.
Mekong life 4 Days 3 Nights
The Mekong River is from the beginning to the end about 1680 Km, is the traditional water way from China heading south. This trip takes you from Ban Vat Saykhoun to the border of Cambodia and Lao, staying on the island along the way you get a unique insight into Lao peoples traditional lives.
Itinerary:
Day 1: Pakse – Ban Vat Saykhoun – Don Det – Don Khone island
Departing from our office in Pakse at 8:00am, you will head down to the Four Thousand Islands or Si Pan Done. By private mini bus or chair vip bus will take 2hrs driving then the kayaking trip starts on the banks of the Mekong river at the bridge to Done Khong, where you receive kayaking instructions and first practice. Then paddling between Done Loppardee, Done Sang and other smaller islands over to Done Khone, passing by the Eastern side of Done Det.
Day 2: Ban Khone – Liphi fall – Ban Khone
After enjoying breakfast we take a short morning walk to visit some of the colonial buildings on the island before continuing onwards to the see Li Phi Waterfall, where you will experience the spectacular zipline crossing the Mekong 6 times!
We enjoy lunch at this magnificent location, then walk to Kongyai beach, to relax and swim, before we paddle further downstream to Ban Hang Khone.. Arriving at Ban Hang Khone we stop and see the old French locomotive and some history explained. Back to Ban Khone for the night.
Day 3: Don Khone– Don Loppardee Village – Don Khone

Explore Southern Laos traditional lifestyle by boat going through the different channels between all the islands as a local, and discover life in a village through the lens of Buddhism, and meet villagers who will show you how they weave fishing nets, sticky rice basket and different ways of cooking sticky rice.

Day 4: Ban Khone –Khonepasoy -Veunkham –Khonephapheng fall – Cambodia Border or Pakse
After enjoying breakfast you cycle around Don Det island, cross over the French bridge, check out the old locomotive before continuing the ride to Khonepasoy beach, where the bicycles are left behind. Then cross the suspension bridge to reach the beach and carry on from there by kayak downstream for around 1 hour to Veunkham village, passing through some exciting rapids along the way!
There you board a waiting car which transports you to the spectacular KhonePhapheng Waterfall, considered to be the biggest and wildest in South-east Asia… You will have ample of time to gaze at the amazing views and walk down the board walk to get a closer look at the cataracts.
Afterwards enjoy lunch before you either continue to Pakse or Cambodian border.

Hat, sun-screen, clothes to get wet, firm but light footwear to get wet, mosquito repellent, flash light, change of clothes for the evening, sarong for bathing
