Full Day Kayaking Tours

  Tour Itinerary:  DON DET – KHONEPASOI WATERFALL – KHONPRAPHENG WATERFALL – DON DET

Tour Highlights:  This is a perfect one-day adventure. 

Enjoy and experience one of the most beautiful and exciting rapids.

Departure: We leave from our office on Don Det at 9:30 am. After your breakfast (included), we then start our paddling trip. The guide will first give you some basic paddle instructions. After that, we paddle to the western side of Don Det and then, bypassing some small Islands, downstream to the north of Don Khone. This takes about 40 minutes. 

After mastering some minor rapids, you will enjoy more exciting grade 2-3 rapids. We stop at the pier and walk to Khonpasoi waterfall for about 25 min. Enjoy the lovely nature views as we walk to the next Kayaking start point.  Then we will stop at the Cambodia border beach and a beautiful, clean swimming spot. Here we will have a picnic lunch. 

Not many people come along this way, only the local fisherman. After lunch, we continue paddling downstream for about 40 minutes to Veun Kham village. Here transportation is waiting to take us to the unique and impressive Khon Phapheng waterfall, considered the largest in Southeast Asia. Afterward, we drive back to Ban Nakasang and enjoy the final kayaking back to Don Det.

Price: We have a group every day from our Don Det office; with a minimum of 3 to a maximum of 25 guests,

Time: morning 8:30 am all guests will be greeted in our restaurant (our restaurant is adherent with our office). 9:30 Am, We will start the trip after finishing the included breakfast, and we will finish the tour at Don Det island at 16:30 pm

Half Day Kayaking and Sightseeing Tours

09:00 am: pick up at your hotel on Donkhone by boat going to Dondet for starting our trip 

09:30 am: the guide gives you some basic paddle instruction 

10:00 am: we start our kayak trip, paddling to the western side of Don Det passing by some small islands to the north of Donkhone. This takes about 40 minutes. After mastering some minor rapids you will enjoy some more exciting rapids (grade 2 – 3). 

After that, we will stop at Donkhone village, take a walk of 25 minutes enjoying the nature as we continue walking to the pier (around 25 minutes) We then paddle downstream (about 40 minutes).

Afterward, we will go to a place where only Local fishermen come. It’s a nice place to take photos and swim. Then we will kayak back to the pier at Hangkhone village, where we take the local transport and return back to Don Khone or Don Det. 12:30 

Duration: Around 3 hours  –9:30 am – 12:30

Tubing on the Mekong

We will take you by boat to another island further upstream. From there, you float down the Mekong River by tube lazily past the luscious green countryside returning to Don Det. Tour includes drinking water, an inner tube, and a boat drop-off. 

Fishing in the Mekong

In Laos’s landlocked country, fish is a significant source of sustenance, protein, and food security for its people. It is reported that there are 481 fish species, including 22 exotic species, living in the Mekong River. 

Learn about the many different ways Laos people catch fish. Discover the traditional fishing technique using a hand-woven nylon net. Your guide will show you the art of throwing the wide net in the water, and you can try the experience for yourself. It’s not as easy as the fishermen make it look!

Pole fishing is easier and immensely satisfying as you reel in your catch. We’ll even clean and cook it up for you. Delicious!

We start from our office, taking you by boat to another island where you will begin your experience.

Khone Phapheng Falls

The Khone Falls are the largest in Southeast Asia and are the main reason the Mekong is not fully navigable into China. The falls are characterized by thousands of islands and countless waterways, giving the area its name Si Phan Don or ‘the 4,000 islands’. The highest falls reach 21 meters (69 ft); the succession of rapids stretches 9.7 km (6.0 mi) of the river’s length. The average discharge of the cataract is nearly 11,000 m3/s (390,000 cu ft/s), with the highest flow on record at over 49,000 m3/s (1,700,000 cu ft/s).
