Authentic Hmong & Khmu Trek from Luang Prabang
Embark on a scenic highland trek through lush bamboo forests, rice paddies, and waterfalls, visiting remote Hmong and Khmu villages, enjoying authentic homestay life, and immersing yourself in the rich culture of northern Laos.
Day 1: Luang Prabang – Ban Huay Lo – Ban Pha Phuang – Ban Mok Chong
Depart from Luang Prabang at 08:30 a.m. and transfer 40 km north to the Khmu village of Ban Huay Lo, the starting point of your trek. Walk through scenic rice paddies, lush forests, and cascading waterfalls, stopping to visit the Hmong village of Ban Pha Phuang for a traditional local lunch. After lunch, continue trekking up the mountains, passing through spectacular landscapes, until reaching Ban Mok Chong, a village perched atop the hills. Here, you’ll spend the night with a local host and gain insight into Hmong and Khmu culture.
Approximate duration: 1 hour transfer + 5 hours trekking
Day 2: Ban Mok Chong – Ban Huay Kha – Ban Ladthahea – Luang Prabang
After breakfast, continue trekking deeper into the rugged mountains west of the Nam Ou valley. The trail winds through serene bamboo forests and dramatic limestone scenery, offering stunning views at every turn. Lunch is served in a small hut beside a rice field, providing a genuine local experience. In the afternoon, follow the trail to the village of Ban Ladthahea, where your vehicle waits for the transfer back to Luang Prabang.

Day 1: Luang Namtha – Ban Chaleunsouk – Wild Banana Camp
After a 30-minute drive, meet the local guide at Ban Chaleunsouk village and begin trekking through farmland valleys and up a steep mountain, followed by a scenic ridge walk. Lunch is enjoyed along the way. Continue through dense canopy forest for about three hours to reach Wild Banana Camp, set beside a peaceful river. Enjoy time at a nearby waterfall for bathing and relaxation. In the evening, cook traditional Lao food with your guide, with an optional night walk for wildlife spotting
Day 2: Wild Banana Camp – Remote Khmu Village Homestay
Explore an unfrequented jungle trail once used by hunters. Though the terrain is more challenging, the route is shorter, allowing a relaxed hike through pristine forest with chances to spot wildlife. Cross streams and hills before arriving at a remote Khmu village. Stay overnight with a local family, experiencing authentic village life. Spend the evening interacting with locals, playing with children, or swimming in the Nam Ha River
Day 3: Remote Khmu Village – Doi Lakkham – Luang Namtha
Depart the village after breakfast prepared by your host family, who will accompany you through the protected forest. Trek through a stunning jungle with towering 70-meter trees and abundant wildlife such as birds, squirrels, monkeys, and civets. Reach the mountain peak before descending to Doi Lakkham, marking the end of this immersive jungle trekking adventure, then return to Luang Namtha

Phongsaly, Province
Hidden Tribes of Northern Phongsaly
This tour concentrates in exploring minorities living in the north of Phongsaly. The hill tribes include: Tai Leu, Akha Pixo, Akha Noukhouy, Haw (Hor), Thai-yang, Phounoy, Yao (mien tribe), Tai Neua, Kher…….and explore landscape of northern Area of Laos.
Day 1 – Phongsaly – Boun Neua – Huay Yeung – Ngai Neua village – Pang Hok village – Huay Ou Village – Ban Tha
After breakfast, we depart from Phongsaly and drive north toward the remote mountainous areas of the province. The road is rugged and winding, but offers impressive views of the surrounding mountains and countryside.
Along the way, we visit Ban Ngai Neua, a traditional Tai Lue village known for its distinctive wooden houses and cultural heritage.
We then continue to visit several Akha villages, including Pang Hok, where you can observe the unique customs and traditional lifestyle of the Akha people. We will also visit a village inhabited by both Haw (Hor) and Akha communities.
In the evening, we arrive at Ban Tha village, where we will stay overnight with a local family and experience authentic village life.
Day 2 – Ban Tha – Ou Tai –hill tribe villages - Ou Neua
Today we continue our journey further north toward Ou Neua. The drive takes us through some of the highest mountains in the region, offering spectacular views of valleys and remote settlements.
Along the way, we stop at several hill tribe villages, including Yao (Mien) and Kher communities, where visitors can learn about their traditional lifestyles and cultural practices.
We will also enjoy panoramic views over the Yot Ou area before continuing our journey to Ou Neua, where we spend the night at a local guesthouse.
Day 03 – Ou Neua – Tai Neua Villages – Return to Phongsaly
After breakfast, we explore villages around Ou Neua, including communities of the Tai Neua ethnic group and other local tribes.
Following the visits, we begin our return journey to Phongsaly, stopping along the way to visit additional villages and enjoy the beautiful landscapes of northern Laos.
We arrive back in Phongsaly in the late afternoon.
