08:00 – 11:00 AM — Mekong Cruise Downstream
Pick-up from your hotel at 08:00 AM for an 08:30 AM departure by boat from Pakse pier. During the 2½ hour journey downstream, observe local fishermen, watch daily river life unfold, and marvel at the awe-inspiring landscape framed by the Champasak mountains on your right and rolling flatlands on your left.

11:00 AM – 14:45 PM — Lunch & Vat Phou Temple Exploration
Arrive at Champasak pier at 11:00 AM, where a private minivan transfers you to the beautiful Nakorn Café to refresh and purchase lunch. At 12:15 PM, enter the historic Vat Phou temple complex.
Start at the museum to learn about the architectural history before taking a free electric shuttle to the ruins. Walk the ancient causeway past stone carvings of Hindu deities, climb the rocky stairways, and reach the sacred spring at the bottom of a sandstone cliff. Drink the holy water and reward yourself with amazing views over the Champasak landscape, the Mekong, and Don Daeng Island.
The mountain sanctuary of Vat Phou
14:45 – 17:15 PM — Hidden Ruins, Weaving & Mountain Vistas
Take a short drive to the crumbling ruins of Hong Nang Sida to see active archaeological restoration in action. Afterward, make a brief stop in Champasak town at "Chez Maman" for original tribal weavings and unique souvenirs.
On the drive back to Pakse, stop to climb the long stairway up to Vat Phou Ngoi temple to see its unique Buddha paintings. Before arriving back at your hotel at 17:15 PM, enjoy a final detour to the giant Golden Big Buddha statue of Phou Salao, offering a splendid viewpoint of Pakse city across the river.
