08:30 – 09:30 AM — Departure & Scenic Drive

Pick-up from your hotel in Pakse. Enjoy a scenic morning drive southward to Champasak, heading directly to the gates of the Vat Phou UNESCO World Heritage complex.

09:30 – 11:30 AM — Ancient Vat Phou Exploration

Begin at the historical museum to understand the architecture and rich history of the site. From there, an electric shuttle transports you to the first level of ruins.

Walk along the ancient causeway lined with partially rebuilt structures decorated with carvings of Hindu gods and demons. Climb the steep stone stairways to the sacred spring flowing from a sandstone cliff, where you can taste the fresh holy water. At the top sanctuary, take in stunning views of the Champasak landscape, the Mekong River, and Don Daeng Island.

11:30 AM – 12:00 PM — Hong Nang Sida Ruins

Take a short drive to the crumbling, mystical ruins of Hong Nang Sida. This structure is also a part of the UNESCO World Heritage site and is currently undergoing careful conservation. You will have the unique opportunity to witness active archaeological restoration in progress via a joint Korean-Lao venture.

12:15 – 13:30 PM — Lunch & Tribal Weavings

Enjoy a delicious local lunch at the Nakorn Café. Before leaving Champasak town, make a brief stop at "Chez Maman" boutique. Here, you can browse and purchase authentic tribal weavings and original local souvenirs that cannot easily be found anywhere else in the region.

14:00 – 16:45 PM — Golden Buddhas & Phou Salao Viewpoint

On the return leg to Pakse, climb the long stairway up to the Vat Phou Ngoi temple, featuring unique paintings detailing the life of Buddha and a vast view of the sprawling Mekong flatlands. Keep an eye out for the Bolaven Plateau visible in the distance!

Before entering Pakse city, take a short detour up to the massive Golden Big Buddha statue of Phou Salao. Watch the mighty Mekong River and the entirety of Pakse city unfold below in its full splendor before returning to your hotel at 16:45 PM.
